How do Miniature Pinschers behave around cats?
Several years ago, my wife got a
cat. Our Min Pin, about 5 years old at the time, had never been around cats
much and got the idea that he and the cat should play. So he would chase her,
apparently hoping she would play along.
A cat can defend itself pretty
effectively against a Miniature Pinscher with its claws. Even though our dog
learned this quickly the hard way, we still worried he would get his eyes
scratched, or worse. Since this experience with cats,
our dog has met others. Though he’s grown wiser over the years and keeps a bit
more distance between him and the nearest feline, he will still pounce toward
them expecting to engage them in some sort of game. The cats just sit still and
stare at him, and surely wonder if he has any sense at all.

The
cat was old, having been part of my wife’s family for a long time, and had
